NEW ORLEANS REENTRY TASK FORCE
Contact – nolareentry@gmail.com
History: In 2014, the City of New Orleans convened a New Orleans Reentry Working Group comprised of formerly incarcerated people, service provider partners and advocates. The Working Group was made up of cross sector representatives from stakeholders and various coalitions throughout the city. The Working Group grew to include over 60 people representing 45 organizations throughout Orleans Parish, the region and the State. The focus was on improving the outcomes of those with criminal histories and those returning from incarceration through collaboration, policy creation and advocacy. With the changes in local, State and Federal governments, there was a need to solidify this union and lead it towards sustainability and stability. With that in mind, the New Orleans Reentry Task Force was formed.
